About the Department

The Bengali Department of this college started its journey from 2001 with two efficient Teachers, Sri Basudeb Ghosh and Sri Amal Kumar Mondal. Dr. Krishnagopal Roy joined as an Assistant Professor in this department in 2002. Dr. Roy was also the principal of the college. There was only general stream in this subject at the beginning. The honours course was introduced in the year 2004. Mrs. Ruplekha Chowdhury devoted her time for teaching as a guest faculty from 2007 to 2014 Dr. Moushumi Saha joined in the year 2010. Dr. Kajal Ganguli joined in 2017.

Infrastructure

The department has separate class rooms, library, reading room, a special book bank donated by the alumnae.

Research and Extension Activities

The teachers and students of the departments work enthusiastically to assure the success of the NSS, Annual Programme and other observing days. Students of the department take part in sports, dance, drama, recitation at various colleges and inter college competition.

1. UGC sponsored seminar, departmental seminars are used to arrange by the department to provide wider exposure to the students.
2. UGC sponsored seminar on the theme “Bivinna Drishtikon Theke bahgla Jeebani Bishayak Rachana : Er Bahumatrik Upoyogita” was organised by the department during 24.04.2017-25.04.2017
3. A departmental seminar on “Niveditar Janmo Sardhashatabarsha” was arranged on 18.12.2017UGC sponsored seminar, departmental seminars are used to arrange by the department to provide wider exposure to the students.
