About the Department

In the shades of the palm trees in the banks of Jalangi, then institution of Chapra Bangaljhi Mahavidyalaya took birth. One very integral part of the institution is the department of Sanskrit. The department started its journey in the year 2008 offering only general category and later in 2013 the honors curriculum took birth. The department since then is running in a smooth manner.

The base of Indian culture can be traced out in the Sanskrit literature. Keeping it in mind the Sanskrit department of Chapra Bangaljhi Mahavidyalaya always tries to maintain the standard of Sanskrit teaching and learning and tend to move it forward. The department is like the heart of the institution. In generic sense, the word ‘knowledge’ and ‘intellect’ are synonymous, but they differ. A more storing of date into the brain about the things outside can enhance the magnitude of intellect and make one intellectual but it is the process of knowing oneself that makes someone wish in true sense. Sanskrit does the same. It teaches us to know about self.

The hard work with modesty and patience are the quality of the students of the institution who with the tireless guidance of the teachers are keeping pace towards maintaining, preserving and embracing the values of studying the subject. Many students who have passed from this department are engaged in higher studies at university level, at research works and many other fields. Four teachers are in service of the department presently helping the students continuously in pursuing their studies.
