About the Department

The department of political science was introduced from the inception of the college in September, 2001. At the time of commencement the subject was limited only to the general course students. During that period there was no permanent teacher in the faculty. Mrs. Gargi Sengupta joined as the first faculty member of the department on September 02, 2003. The honours course opened in 2005. Thenceforward the department has been running smoothly with the co-operation of other faculty members. Some of our beloved former students have been employed in various spheres of life. This department stood third twice in the youth parliament competition in 2011 and 2017. It has a wall magazine of its own PRAMA by name. The students are really so enthusiastic in cultural and co-curricular activities. The teachers are always devoted for the up-gradation of the students. It is noteworthy that the department has its own separate enclave on the 1st floor of the college consisting of a mini departmental library where the students can sit and read the books to enhance their knowledge. The department believes in the message the ‘ARS LONGA, VITA BREVIS’. So the vision and mission the department is “to strive, to seek, to find and not to yield”.
